Barbara’s Rhody

My dear friend Barbara has been “gone” about ten years but her friendship and love is always with me . This lovely rhody was a huge tree size one in Barbara and Richard’s yard. They moved into an apartment back in the early 80’s and we were given a piece of the rhody with roots. We planted it at our Washington home where it grew to be very big and beautiful . Rich died in 1989 then Barbara over 20 years later . When we moved here my friends dug up a piece to move here of their rhody from our yard.
It’s blooming here now and I’m so touched it has survived —/ even the horrid ice storm that killed our apple tree and our “hardy” fuchsias. It survived and will remain to me a loving symbol of my dear dear Barbara .
