Sgwarnog: In the Field

Green

A free day gave me a chance to get out to the further side of the moor to record Green Hairstreak butterflies. I tramped up and down the bilberry patches in their usual spots but found very few this year. There was a bit of a cool breeze which may have had an effect, so I’ll see if I can get out again on a calmer day, during what’s left of May.

I had a couple of fleeting views of Emperor Moths but I’ve still never caught up with one for a photo. Skylarks were everywhere, along with Willow Warbler and one family group of Stonechat.

For yesterday’s shieldbug enthusiasts, today’s encounter was with a Hairy Shieldbug (extra).
