timber!

This is a tree which was blown down by Storm Arwen in our neighbour's garden. I passed it on my walk this afternoon.

I drove D into college this morning and we were held up at traffic lights where tree surgeons were cutting down an enormous copper beech, limb by limb. I've watched the slow demise of this tree over the past five years and I suppose it has just become so dangerous now that it needs to be felled. The tree surgeons were right up in the crown of the tree - a dangerous job, even with all the safety equipment. But D has told me that the job of a lumberjack is apparently one of the safest from being taken over by AI.

After a Stretch and Flex class, sauna, Aquaerobics, fetching D, lunch, gardening, making and eating tea and going drumming, there was still time to watch a bit of a documentary about Fred Dibnah, the steeplejack.

Time for bed now before I get vertigo.
