We were up early this morning and on the bus to Granton and Empty Kitchens. A new experience for me - instead of my usual packing shift, I was scheduled for a stint in the kitchens with chef Scott. Armed with a sharp knife and a chopping board, I transformed all kinds of vegetables into perfect shapes for cooking. Every time I had finished a crate, another one appeared - I started with red peppers, and moved onto potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower and , asparagus. I cut about 500 button mushrooms in half. It was the carrots which finished me off - a blister began to appear on my index finger and I knew I was defeated! But it was lunchtime so I felt I’d done ok.

This afternoon I had a lovely stroll around the Botanics and then watched Luke climbing (he’s on the left in this photo) before having my hair cut and going for a walk on the beach.
