Wednesday 25 March 2009: The three chimneys restaurant
This is the Three Chimneys restaurant. It is called that because of the three chimneys on the roof but stupid me managed to cut the end one off while trying to miss out the parked car. Nevermind, I will get a better shot next time we are there.
We had an incredible meal there last night, the menu is as follows -
SEVEN COURSES OF SKYE
The main ingredients for each dish are all sourced in Skye & Lochalsh.
Prawns
Loch Dunvegan Langoustines with Tattie Scones & Glendale Organic Mesclun
Crab
Colbost Crab Risotto with Shellfish Essence & Truckle Wafer
Smoked Fish
A Selection of Broadford Cold & Hot-Smoked Fish with Croft Quail Eggs
Scallops
Sconser King Scallop with Hazelnut Crust, Pickled Winkles,
Split Pea & Ham Hough Purry, Claret Jus
Oysters
Three Loch Harport Oysters with Cucumber & Mint Jelly, Homemade Crème Fraîche
Smoked Herring Roe
Lamb
Roast Glenhinnisdal Lamb Loin with Kidney, Heart, Sweetbread & Hairst Bree
Cheese
Highland Cheeses with Our Oatcakes
(Optional Extra Course or Alternative to Soufflé)
Soufflé
Three Chimneys Hot Marmalade Pudding Soufflé with Drambuie Syrup & Mealie Ice Cream.
This was all washed down with several bottles of heather ale and some port at the end.
The food is incredible, the scenery is incredible and the people were very friendly and really made us feel at home. We will be returning there next year for a few days I think. If you get the chance, go. I cannot recommend the place highly enough.

Great looking place and that menu is a weeks worth of food! Have to check that out when we are up that way in the summer :)

Wow that sounds fancy, they must have served small portions to be able to eat seven courses!

Smithski, I would give them a call just now if you are thinking about going, they are running really far ahead as far as bookings are concerned. It is worth the long drive to get there.
Stephanie, the courses were just the right size to give you a taste of the local produce. All of it was fantastic.
