Wednesday 22 May 2013: Assembly Week
This is the week of the Church of Scotland's General Assembly which is held in The Assembly Hall on the Mound in Edinburgh where the reconvened Scots Parliament first sat in 1999.
Behind it on the Lawnmarket is what is now the home of the Edinburgh Festival - the Hub - but which was before the Tolbooth St John's Kirk. It and New College were built for the Free Church after The Disruption and form an architectural unity when seen from Hanover St on the other side of Princes St.
I was having dinner tonight on Princes St, facing this view, when the rainbow demanded attention.
