Sunday 14 March 2010: Fundraising
Well, we didn't have six visitors staying overnight, we had ..... seven. Another five went to A's home. Everyone had either a bed or a camping mat on the floor and they were a delightful bunch of young people. They all bonded so quickly, even though some had not met before and #1 was the link. They were all part of the teams he had worked with last summer in Africa.
The fundraising from the event last night is going to the two projects he worked with : Swahiba Youth Networks in Kenya and Kids Club Kampala in Uganda.
Today was spent clearing the decks and then all having lunch together before they went on their journeys back to London, Plymouth, Bristol, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham, Preston, Exeter.
Several of them are planning to return to these projects this summer - it's great to see young people making a difference.
Later edit - just backblipped last night. Click on the link above.

Superb cause. Often thought about visiting Uganda, my mum'd school has links there.

You've worked hard, I hope you have your feet up now!

Sounds hectic. Hope you're sitting down now with a nice glass of wine.
One of the first blips I saw on your site was your son arriving back at Glasgow Airport from Africa last summer.

It is wonderful to hear of young people so enthusiastic about such a great cause and giving their time so generously (as you must be too).

Love the tee shirt and agree with you, it's great to see young people making a difference.
Also thank you for asking after Hannah (bananablip).
She's having a good time, working hard and facing lots of challenges.
She's out of touch for a few weeks as she's gone on trek into the bush, but praying for her protection and safety.

This is fantastic! It sounds like you've had a very full day though!
