The journal will be shot with a single lens/single camera, with the lens wide open). I use an Aptus Leaf medium format back on a Mamiya 645 body, and a Zeiss 110/2 Planar lens (it shows up as 0mm because it's attached via an adapter and no lens info is sent to the camera)

January 2010
We are getting ready to move from our current house over the next couple months. We've been living here for the last 5 years... so this month will be documenting the land around our home.

note.. i have been asked to add a note from my wife :)
I feel a strong need to jump in here and say that these pictures are of 'neighboring' land and jim's wife is really not a hillbilly. :0)

February 2010
I've been living in the Santa Cruz, Ca region for over 20 years now. There have been people I've passed weekly while walking through town, in parks, who I've seen time after time. I don't know them, don't know their story.. but i know their faces. For February, I'll try to meet many of them, learn their stories, and ask to borrow their likeness for record. Their stories will remain mine (... for those in the area, the opportunity is there for you to learn if you wish it), but their likeness will be posted here

March 2010
In March, the circle broadens.... we've looked at my backyard, and then the people inhabiting the world around me. We'll now look further .. Santa Cruz, the surrounding coastline and farmlands, main streets and back allies.. and all the nooks and crannies that makes me take pause from the comings and goings of daily life.. and look.
