A view from Jeanneb

This isn't a good photo---

but----IT IS THE NORTHERN LIGHTS!!!!!

We arrived in Tromso as the sun was going down - about 2.30pm local time.

Took quite a few pictures of the sun setting behind the mountains and then once on board took some of the harbour, bridge and the magnificent Arctic Cathedral. All these were quite presentable  but less than one hour from leaving the harbour, just as we had ordered our pre dinner drinks, it was announced that the Northern lights could be seen on the starboard side!

They look quite like cloud trails and the colour seems to only really come out when you photograph them. Apparently these were the best that have been seen for some time. As you can imagine we were over the moon.

The deck was vibrating from the engines so it was very difficult not to get movement but even so I am thrilled.

(The internet connection is very slow so I will put more on flickr when I get back)
