Friday 10 August 2012: Messing About in a Boat

From the bridge, the boats looked very low, very flat bottomed and very unstable. The water looked crystal clear and inviting in this warm August sun, not a time to be in and out of shops, definitely a time for messing about in boats. The choice as to which type of boat (larger rowing boat or smaller punt) was left to our daughter. She wisely chose the punt as the rowing boats looked a definite second best.

As we cruised slowly along the Stour through Canterbury, aquatic plants danced in the gentle current and children's fingertips dangled in the cool shallows, the water softly rippling through them. Historic tales accompanied the scenery as we glided past.

I could do more of this!! We asked our guide and chief punter the best way to get to Greyfriars Gardens. It was well worth the visit. All wildlife friendly and informal. if you do go, look out for the magic tap.
