Who am I to disagree?

Nurse Kathy

Log entries normally don't last over two days, but having left on the cliff hanger of whether my knee was okay or not I'd continued yesterday's Log Entry into today:

A very restless night with plenty more tweaks and the inability to walk convinced me that my trip was over. With todays plan being a day trip from the hut and me now being able to hobble a bit I thought a wee ski and a rest, then maybe...........

Kathy then suggested strapping it and duly applied strips of Hypafix down the side of the knee and Magic!! The knee in question was pretty knackered before the trip, but now felt more stable than it had done for years. 4km into our 16km day trip I was asked how I felt - "Brand New - Bring on the rest of the trip"

Today's photo: Nurse Kathy applying the miracle Hypafix.

So forgetting my woes the plan for today was another attempt to visit the delights of the cafe at Saltdal Turistsenter an 8km ski there and an 8km ski back. Weather was a lot better and with me being on a high after the potential low of having to head home it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. A fairly brisk 2km uphill to the lake - a nice bit of speed over the lake, then great fun ducking and diving through the trees on the descent on the far side.

A "Cowboy Lunch" - fry up and chips and then the return journey. We gave the woods a miss, taking the easier but longer option of road up through the trees. Once we got above the trees Mick headed off alone to meet up with a friendly Norwegian who was going to drive him to Bolnastua where on the reconnaissance he'd stashed a load of food, but our plans were no longer to head in that direction. The rest of the group continued on, over the lake in the failing light and once we were at the top of the 2km descent down to Lønsstua it was quite dark. I really struggled with my poor eyesight, but I eventually twigged - take your goggles off you daft old bugger - it was a lot more fun after that!
