Grey Heron on the Bittern Pool
Lazy morning & early afternoon, but by 15:30 it was time to get out somewhere. Mrs L was having fun ironing, so I was on my own once again and decided on a trip to Amwell Nature Reserve. Passed through a heavy rainstorm on the way over, but it had stopped when I arrived and the air felt clear and fresh - a nice change.
The lazy theme of the day continued as I dropped into the James hide for a quick look round. A couple of hours later it was time to leave and head home. There was a Cetti's Warbler calling, an easily heard but seldom seen bird. The challenge of trying to find it in the dense undergrowth and get a photo appealed, plus there was other good stuff around too. A pair of Great Tits were looking rather dapper, occasional sightings of Reed Warbler, a smart male Reed Bunting and today's blipped Grey Heron. May have to return to continue the stalking of the Cetti's, I did get a photo but it's not great, mind you that didn't stop RCB blipping it.
