Tuesday 21 May 2013: Bumbling...

... about when he should be in hibernation. Found it on a swath of drenched grass and it looked so lifeless I thought it might have succumbed to the winter chill that is beginning to seep into everywhere. NO! Bumblebee got quite agitated when I picked it up - on the end of a stick - and placed it on the warmer soil of a planter. Little antenna whirled about and a lazy buzz emanated but once relocated it settled down. How does one tell male from female?

Successful lunch with AC...looks as though she may have turned a corner at last. Fingers crossed. She paid for Mothers lunch!! We had a really good chat and she is certainly much more relaxed, long may it last. All we want is for her to be happy as she can be...no pressure.
