Mr Smith

Thursday 11 March 2010: Grand Design

Lucky Mr Blandings.

Not a bad gaff but I think I'd want something a bit bigger, with a swimming pool on the roof and servants quarters in the grounds perhaps. I have simple needs.

  1. Do you think he's just staking a claim where the sign is?
The neighbours might have something to say about that.

    ~ hiraeth

  2. Nice the way it is, leave it alone Mr Blandings! spend your money on something useful, like drugs and loose women.

    ~ Blob

  3. I would be tempted to change the sign for something rude.

    ~ dogenzenji

  4. You're putting these up yourself now. Admit it.

    ~ Red

  5. Any chance you'll share your lottery win, my friend? That's the only way I'm gonna be able to find a wee but and ben as described by you :-))

    ~ postie

  6. Excellent blip.

    ~ raubrey

  7. This is too good.

    Mr. Blandings likes Bland Digs...

(forgive me it is 4 am)

    ~ etherghost

  8. The Council are trying out a new style planning permission notice, I see. [Mr Blandings] "Please can I build a house here?" [Planning officer] "No, it's a conservation area" "But it's my Dream House" "Oh well in that case, on you go".

    ~ SooB

  9. A very odd sign...

    ~ acronymphomania

  10. It's getting ever harder to believe you don't manufacture these signs yourself.... great blip anyway. :-)

    ~ Annie

  11. Well thank ye kindly sir, although I'm not too happy about being called elderly... ;-)

    ~ Annie

  12. Well I never. It's got someone called "Beavers" in it too, so what's not to like?

    ~ Red

  13. @SooB really made me laugh. I wonder if the sign will change as it inevitably takes twice as long and costs 4x the budget: "Mr Blandings is building his compromise house."

    ~ Lesley

  14. not my idea of a dream house but each to their own! Hope he's happy:)

    ~ caffeine

  15. Woopi doo Mr Blandings...I used to draw these designs when I was a child

    ~ hebsauntyval

  16. I not entirely convinced that sign is grammatically correct.

    ~ David77

  17. With a wine cellar too.

    ~ brickmaker

  18. So he's been dreaming of an invisible mansion then?

    ~ drcraig

  19. Very odd!
Yes same boat but a little more knackered I would say. Interesting spot, Port Seton and Cockenzie....... very blippable

    ~ LadyFindhorn

  20. It's a very cute money pit.

    ~ mr_chips

  21. I was just about to say it would make a good name for a book when I looked at Red's link.

    ~ Northern

  22. I wouldn't mind the dreamhouse in the background, myself.....

    ~ DaveH

  23. Now thats an old Movie (Cary Grant I think), probably in Black & White. Well spotted - fun.

    ~ gblrps

  24. lol!

    ~ nina54

  25. Ha you don't have find things eh?

My archery story was true and wonder what I'd hit if I tried it again. I would love to but I can't even play it on the damm Wii!

    ~ queenie

  26. 'Mr Blandings.....' is my favourite EVER film (it's even on my iPod to cheer me up on troublesome travel days)......oh to be Myrna Loy.....I can do ditzy!

    ~ meancoast

  27. It is not one of Cary Grant's best movies, in fact the reviewer said; Mr Dreamings builds his bland house.

I can't help feeling someone is taking the mick.

    ~ CanCarrier
