Monday 8 February 2010: North Leith Graveyard

Had the weekend off blipping. Other things on my mind.

I think Cyclops finds my interest in graveyards mystifying, but I do enjoy a good wander round an old burial ground on occasion to look at the gravestones and think about who the people might have been.

Today, Acronymphomania, H (still to post her first blip) and I took a walk down the Water of Leith to the Shore to get some sandwiches from Fleurs.

Acronymphomania blipped some happy dogs, and this is what I chose!

Graveyard Grave stone Leith Edinburgh Water of Leith North Leith Graveyard

  1. I'm glad I am not the only one who loves a graveyard.

When I need to think thats where I go, a nice old graveyard. Reading between the lines and getting family stories, the really sad ones where they've had maybe 8 children and outlived them all. Or the monied families with large tombs with plenty of space for names but hardly any interred.

And I have to admit I have been known to have a good cry when I find those small markers, I can't bear it.

And yet graveyards always draw me in, even as a child (I think my parents thought I was odd)

  6. Cemeteries make ideal subjects for blipping...go to the old Dean Cemetery for some opportunities to take some really interesting shots.
