random rancid rambles

Bringing it home

The pulks lie dormant, but full, on the edge of the lake, whilst we rest.

We struggled to get into Saltfjell - poor weather, a big pull up, and heavy pulks. Eventually we turned. At the brewstop I heard the instruction to beware the wind blowing my ski away, stuck it in the ground behind a boulder and then watched it ping off down the slope. I thought that was it, had my brew, then wandered forlornly down the slope contemplating using the spare, shorter skis. but then I found it.

I then taught it a lesson by skiing off a ten foot snow bank. Visibility was poor and I thought I was on a constant slope over to some rocks, next thing I'm airborne, then gasping for breath as I hit the ground - lots of soft snow to cushion the landing though.

Lopngshanks captured the better weather.

We need to go back to Lonsdal and reconsider.
