Thursday 28 August 2008 : the highlight of my day!!!!
The SWITCH arrived from Italy! Dave the repair technician called and said it came last night, overnight mail. Of course, we've been waiting since April. He came right over and put it in and now we have a dryer again. Unfortunately, when Johnny Rocket was doing the construction work, he forgot to put in a dryer vent.....Lordy!
I had to listen once again to Garrulous Dave tell me the story about the Aga Stove parts that he finally had to rip out of a stove in the Manhattan showroom after they had sent him a dozen defective parts from England. It never gets old, but he said he was moving to Austin because they weren't paying him enough and he had made a demand which wasn't going to be met. I felt sad. Its just that we have developed this relationship, the three of us; Ariston, me and Dave, over the years, and it just won't be the same. He said there would be no one left to fix it after he departs---and then told me more stories about his evil employer and I felt bad. I apologized again for the temper tantrum I threw last time and then he left...he said he was giving his two weeks notice and if I needed him during those two weeks to call!
On another note, my friend who works in another state for a state agency sent me this bomb threat checklist. Apparently if they get a bomb threat at work, they have to fill this out in triplicate and file it before evacuating!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy..long live the switch. Just hope none of the others go wrong. I work for a major clothing retailer in the UK and we no longer have switchboards in our stores. All callers have to go through a central number and are redirected to their nearest store...I can just imagine someone calling to inform them that a bomb has been planted in one of our stores~ hebsauntyval
