Sunday 16 June 2013: Scotland's Gardens, Stirling gardens, our garden

This is a backblip from Sunday, when we opened our garden as one of seven gardens in Stirling as part of the Scotland's Gardens charity fund-raising scheme. It was very nerve-racking to contemplate opening our own dear green place to friends and strangers alike, and weeks and weeks of hard work in preparation. But the sun shone, our friend Linda set out her stall in and around our summerhouse for her charity Hope4China which provides education for children in Chinese orphanages (search on Google if you'd like to know more!), and we think 130+ folk visited our garden. We did pond-dipping for the edification of visiting youngsters who enjoyed the tadpoles, flatworms and baby newts. Apparently the seven gardens raised £1300 for charities supported by Scotland's Gardens, we had some lovely comments and it wasn't as scary as I had feared!
