About Bob's Photo of the Day
I started at age 8 with a Kodak Box camera. (I still have the negatives)........ My passion in photography is to share, with the world, the emotions and perceptions of what I see and sometimes just to mess with the world?s perceptions.
Back in June 2010 I was talking to a photographer at an exhibition in our arts centre, where I work, and I was telling him how I was now trying to take a photo a day. He introduced me to Blipfoto.
I thought I would stick with it for a hundred consecutive days just to see if I could do it. Well... 100 days ran to 365, then to 500, then to 730 and now to 1000. Some days have been more challenging, particularly my five days in hospital after suffering a mild
stroke.
"Blipping" daily has given me "sight", in that I can now see what so many do not. 90% of my images are taken within a 3 KM radius of where I live.
Photographing daily for Blipfoto has made me practice my art on a daily basis and, in my opinion, I am reaping the rewards. My skill level has increased in leaps and bounds.
My unconscious is always on the alert for potential images and prods my brain when the light or environment gets interesting. I have no favourite subject. If it reflects or emits light, its all fair game. My technique is to use what is available because the best images are rarely planned.
I have encouraged several photographers on our Island to take up the challenge and join Blipfoto.
One of the unexpected joys of Blipfoto is meeting (virtually) people and sometimes whole neighbourhoods from other places in the world. This is my Social Media site of choice.
