Starry Eyed Surprise

By bellerock

A misunderstanding.

A child-free weekend to ourselves.

Haven't seen one of those for a long time.

This is the grand tour of the area day, so we sent off to Axminster first.

The scenery is gorgeous. I especially like the thatched cottages, so picturesque, so chocolate box.

Lunch was at The River Cottage Canteen. (Mr G had been 'encouraged' to take me there by one of his female colleagues)

Thank you Amelia, you've got great taste!

Fantastic lunch and wonderful atmosphere.

Next on the agenda, Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast.

Now that's what I call seaside resort. Not tatty, not tacky, no 'kiss me quick' hats or amusement arcades.

Just buckets and spades, ice creams, beach huts, seagulls and tearooms.

It was our intention to spend the night at a B&B there, but as luck would have it, the Gala week was happening and there was..

No room at the inn.

We had our Devon Cream Tea in a quaint wee tearoom...well when in Devon...

Then I had a strong urge to visit Bath, so we agreed go to have a look round and stay there instead.

When we got to Bath we called a few hotels to book a room. Fully booked.

We called a few more hotels to book a room. Fully booked.

After about an hour of trying in vain to book a room we gave up and started to head back to Yeovil.

However on the way out of Bath, Mr G decided to give it one more go and we got lucky and landed a beautiful room in a great B & B 5 minutes from the town centre. (a cancellation)

Superb night out in Bath. Got a bit drunk, laughed at the strange 80's styled guys in a pub.

I had to resist taking a photo. I don't think the guys would have seen the funny side of that.

So this is a picture of a lady on the beach at Lyme Regis today.

The weather was hot, hot hot, people were putting up parasols to protected themselves from the sun.

I wonder if she misunderstood the weather forecast?
