~La Luna Grande~
~The Big Moon~
~La Luna Realmente Grande~
I won't go on about the significance and rarity of tonights lunar display.
A lot of other talented Blippers have explained it better than I could.
It does seem that I have joined the ranks of sky watchers tonight.
Up on Sunset Ridge this evening were about 15 photographers.
All cameras were facing the east and not the usual western direction.
It seems that the natural satellite of the earth was very popular.
The good old sunset will have to wait its turn, perhaps tomorrow night.
This moon is rising above the Santa Catalina Mountain Range.
I would guess this backlit ridge is about 5 miles away, as the crow flies.
In the grande view you can see the pine tree silhouettes.
At an elevation of 9100 ft. the moonrise was an hour later ;o)
Hope everyone had a good Saturday!
