This week in Blipfoto - the perfect recipe for a 366 project
6th January 2012
Happy New Year, Blippers.
We do hope that it's a good one... Who's planning on a 366 project this year, then (leap years always add an extra challenge, don't they)?
We're certainly starting as we mean to continue - a dash of creativity, a load of opportunity and a good slice of inspiration. The perfect recipe for a fruitful year, we hope.
Out with the old and in with the new. Well, almost...
We're getting close to the deadline now for The World Over film project. Your entries, to date, have been amazing. Shots from all over the world have been flooding in. But we're greedy. We want more.
We need your "hero" shots to feature in the film. Not actual shots of heros (although, that is an idea!) but shots with famously recognisable backdrops, to highlight the span of this amazing Blip community.
The deadline is the 20th of January, so get uploading now... And remember, all Blippers featured in the film will be included in the credits.
So, that's creativity ticked off. What about opportunity? Well, how about becoming a cover star? We're collaborating with the National Theatre of Scotland to allow you the chance to have your photography featured on the cover of their prestigious brochure.
The brief is "One Day In Spring". To feature, all you have to do is tag your images 'springNTS' - be it new images or old Blips (you can add the tag without losing any comments, views etc).
Staff Picks
This Seoul gentleman is in a hurry. Almost levitating over the cross-roads, it looks like his feet haven't hit the ground since the new year. We know the feeling.
A chilly January morning in Ireland. The perfect time to blow away the cobwebs, take the dog for a walk... and go for a swim in the sea? Brrrr.
Marching and mimicking. This little chap in the Netherlands is ensuring that the changing of the guard at The Royal Palace goes smoothly. The soldiers take everything in their stride.
Prayer at the Hassan Fathy Mosque in New Qorna, Egypt. The Mosque is part of a village that was built in 1948 of mud brick - 'architecture for the poor'. Despite its humble construction, at prayer time the power of people across the world uniting in prayer can be overwhelming.
Blipper Steven Michael of southwest Oregon came a little too close to the edge of one of the state's most famous scenic landmarks, Shore Acres. This brings up the question, that if a photographer is involved in an accident, what natural reaction comes first - photograph or rescue? Thankfully, the only damage on this occasion was a muddied jacket.
2012 Challenge
Oh, if all that isn't inspiring enough... How about this? If you are ever stuck for inspiration, or just fancy the challenge, this Blipper-generated task list might just be for you. Good luck. And have a happy new year.
