5D Mark III's Light Leak Issue is Confirmed by Canon

19th April 2012

If you saved up all your hard earned money and managed to buy the 'best DSLR in the world' you might be feeling a bit shortchanged. It turns out that Canon's flagship offering, the 5D Mark III has a flaw in the shape of a light leak! It seems that under certain circumstances the metering system is reading the light from the LCD screen and adding that to the exposure calculations.

The fault, which has been acknowledged by Canon, moves the exposure by about 1/3 of a stop and can be corrected by turning off the screen, but not really what you want in a camera costing around 2600 UK pounds.
