Up in smoke... The exhibition
5th July 2012
Celebrating his 10th year "off the fags", Dublin-based Blipper Nicolas Reuland decided to commemorate by shooting a gallery of smokers. They are after all... a dying breed...
"Banished to the back of office buildings, kicked out onto the street outside pubs and restaurants, they are now the lepers of our society," says Nicolas. "Yet, they are the ones who have the best craic, the juiciest gossip and the strongest connections."
His online Blipfoto journal is dedicated to these "masons of a new age".
Over the past 22 months he's photographed over 330 smokers, documenting their name, average number of cigarettes smoked a day and when they stared smoking.
Well, now his project has come to an end and an exhibition of his work is being held in the No Grants Gallery (Culture Box), in Dublin's famous Temple Bar.
The exhibition opens tonight (Thursday 5th of July). Bet he's glad he gave them up now, eh?.
