Olympic Gold Medal Fever

10th August 2012

Like everyone else we're infected by Olympic fever and just to prove the point we've been collecting Blips of all the gold medal winners' post boxes around the country. (The Post Office are bringing a bit of Olympic fun to the UK's streets by painting a Team GB gold medal winner's local post box gold in their honour.)

Olympic Gold Medal Boxes

Sir Chris Hoy's golden post box

You can see the golden roll of honour here. If you've posted a golden box it would be great if you could add them to our maps and we can see exactly where they are.

Blip the Festivals

We're offering more unique back stage passes for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo for the best Festival photograph. So if you're out and about snapping the fun and games remember to tag your photograph 'blipthefestivals' for a chance to win and appear on the official Edinburgh Festivals website.

See Us...

We're building up an amazing collection of images capturing The Year of Creative Scotland. To add your photograph and try for a chance to be part of the exhibition and book just visit the See Us microsite to enter.

Staff Picks

Again it was a week of rich pickings, as usual, trying to choose from thousands of amazing images and stories wasn't easy but here they are.

How about this astonishing photograph of a Yellow Carpenter Bee from Englishman in Bandung

Yellow Carpenter Bee

We loved this gentle homage to the late great Beryl Cook from Goatee Booknerd

Ladies red hats

...and continuing on the Olympian theme another charming photo this time from Town and country

Ben Ainslie gold

Finally for those who've missed it, we wanted to draw your attention to this epic bicycle ride down the West Coast of the USA being undertaken by The Wolf Journal

Two thousand kilometres done and lots more to come.
