Our Digital Planet Winner Revealed

Last month we launched Our Digital Planet - a competition in collaboration with charity Nominet Trust - to explore how the internet has helped change your life.

Today, as a touring exhibition featuring a selection of the wonderful images entered is revealed, we can announce the winner...

We received hundreds of fantastic entries from every corner of the world, but it was a photograph by Blipper Brian Smith (Delphwynd) that was chosen by the panel of judges as the winner.

He will receive a fantastic Panasonic Lumix camera and equipment worth over 500 Pounds and a personal photography workshop with renowned photographer David Collingwood.

Brian said: "It's great to think that this snapshot of a little corner of my Digital Planet is now going to be seen by thousands of people across the UK."

Nominet Trust drives ways in which the internet can be used to stimulate positive social action at a grass-roots level.

Through the interesting and thought-provoking images entered by Blippers, the resulting Our Digital Planet exhibition highlights the broad and far-reaching impact the internet is having - from helping to improve health, education or employment prospects, to reducing feelings of social isolation and championing democracy across whole nations.

Five other finalists were also selected by the judges.

There are many ways of learning, and some of them are more intuitive than others.

The exhibition launches in Brighton today, but if you want to check it out, it will also be touring the UK until the end of the year, visiting Bristol, Cardiff, Liverpool and Glasgow.
