This week in Blipfoto - Blips on Tour
17th August 2012
An evocative exhibition of Blips has launched and is set to tour the UK until the end of this year...
Blipfoto teamed up with Nominet Trust, which uses the power of digital technology to make a positive difference to people's lives, to invite Blippers to submit images that demonstrate what the internet means to you.
Some quite amazing pictures were submitted for Our Digital Planet competition over the past four weeks, with hundreds of entries from all over the world. However, it was a beautiful black and white photograph, entitled Cloud Computing, by Delphwynd that impressed judges with its "powerful, simple and candid portrayal of just how the internet is changing the way we live and interact with our surroundings".
His photograph completes a 24 image exhibition that kicked off in Brighton yesterday, before going on tour in four other cities - Bristol, Cardiff, Liverpool and Glasgow between August and December 2012. A fantastic collage of other entries has also been created for the tour.
As well as taking centre stage at the Our Digital Planet exhibition, alongside other evocative images depicting a range of areas where the internet has positively affected our lives, he will receive over 500 pounds worth of photography equipment and a personal workshop with renowned photographer David Collingwood.
If you want to catch the exhibition, see if the tour passes near you.
Calumet
Remember, this week's theme for Calumet's Photographic's challenge is 'Love'. So submit your pictures (existing or new) to the Group for your chance to be Photo of the Week. Family, friends, lovers... the things you love. Think of the subtly of the challenge of creating an image that captures the emotion.
Blip the Festivals
We're offering more unique back stage passes for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo for the best Festival photograph. So if you're out and about snapping the fun and games remember to tag your photograph 'blipthefestivals' for a chance to win and appear on the official Edinburgh Festivals website.

See Us...
We're building up an amazing collection of images capturing The Year of Creative Scotland. To add your photograph and try for a chance to be part of the exhibition and book just visit the See Us microsite to enter.
Staff Picks
New Zealand is perhaps one of the most picturesque corners of the planet and this wintery shot of Millford Sound captures its hazy light beautifully.
This young chap in Belgium is making the most of the early morning sun. With legs like that, who can blame him?
Ever get the feeling that you're being watched? This busy Cornish fisher man carries on completely unaware of the attention he's attracting.
A fantastically desolate shot of Mormon Row in Grand Teton National Park, as the brooding mountains of the Teton Range look on.
This little girl just could help but dance. Tickletheivories is a street project that encourages the public to play pianos left strategically around the city.
This week kids all over the world were taking the excitement in their stride as they embarked on a new adventure. School. This little girl in Finland looks kind of tentative on her first day. We're sure she'll 'enjoy' it.
