The Grand Finale - Blippers say 'bye' to the Edinburgh Festival in style
3rd September 2012
The summer of Festivals is over in Edinburgh, for this year at least. And, as is tradition, they went out with a bang. Lots of bangs.
The Festivals were closed with a stunning fireworks display and, thanks to our friends at Edinburgh Festivals, two lucky Blippers were there to get a behind-the-scenes peek at the fireworks set up and front-row seats for the show itself.
Over the summer Blippers have been adding the "Blipthefestivals" tag to their photos of the Edinburgh Festivals. This has allowed them to feature on the Festivals website, documenting the Buzz of the world's biggest arts festival.
In return the Festivals team offered Blippers a number of unique prizes, including photography passes for the Royal Military Tattoo and, last night, tickets for the Virgin Money Fireworks Concert.
The Fireworks Concert is a mix of live music performed by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and a breathtaking choreographed fireworks display set against the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.
Having submitted winning 'Blipthefestivals' entries, Gingercatpix and Slybaconshots were picked for this amazing prize.
First was a tour of the castle walls, taking in the fireworks and the technicians getting ready for the show, then tickets to the Bandstand to get the best view of the show.
Thanks to every one who entered their photos to Blipthefestivals and we look forward to helping make it even bigger and better next year. If you want to see the shots that were entered this year, check out the Edinburgh Festivals website.
