Saturday 11 February 2012: A Wee Wasp

This pretty wasp is about 1 cm long. I think it is a European tube or potter wasp, Ancistrocerus gazella. If so it's another introduction to our wildlife. The female lays her eggs in a clay tube that she makes and stuffs with caterpillars for her young to eat. Large

Yesterday was by far the biggest I have had on Blip, with a record number of views and comments. My 1000th blip was a big deal for me personally, but this wonderful community made it a very big event. Thank you to all who viewed my journal, left comments, gave me hearts, and to my new subscribers. I'm attempting to thank each of you for your comment, but it may take several days.
