Friday 5 September 2008: Cushion Star
I love the west coast of Scotland. Sunshine, mountains, fresh air and clear water. Two great dives today - although an incident on the second one nearly drowned the three of us as we were laughing so much!
This is from the first dive, on a submerged reef only a few minutes away from the harbour. It's a cushion star (maybe 3-4inches across), and to the naked eye it blends in with the browns and greys of the rocks because there is almost no natural red light. A torch or camera flash reveals it's true colours though - a stunning array of oranges and reds.
I blipped pretty late last night - check out my picture of Ardvreck Castle
