Thursday 2 September 2010: Lines mean nothing in Cairo
Lines mean nothing in Cairo.
White lines, painted on asphalt, are ignored, and traffic melts in on itself. Two lane roads become four. And there's always one driver who creates his own lane, wedging the car in the middle, wherever that middle might be.
Standing in line is an acquired talent. There's always someone who will think it's perfectly ok to begin their own queue, right next to the person at the front of the line.
Crossing lines is a daily occurrence. Lines of privacy, the lines that create your personal space.
We don't notice lines in Cairo.

The writing - amazing. Very well done. The lights - it's just mind boggling to see lights hanging like that. I think this is a brilliant capture.

A great write up and photo that 'ties it all up'! I sure wouldn't want to be that person at the front of the line when someone makes their own queue right next to me!! I suppose maybe you would get used to it, but it would take me a while!! :)

I like how real life throws up pleasing patterns all the time - but how it's only some of us who spot them ;-)
