Saturday 31 July 2010: seems only fitting
Today is Scorpionkiss's birthday. We started our morning the way he loves - in Mu'iz Street. So it seems only fitting that my picture today is of him.
I don't think I could possibly write more eloquently or poetically about what Mu'iz Street means to us, than what he has already written today.
The rest of the day will be spent in more air conditioned, modern surroundings, with a special meal, and lots more to celebrate one of the sweetest, kindest, and most generous men I have ever met.
I am so lucky to have you in my life. Happy Birthday ya habib alby! Hope you like what else I've got planned for you! xxx

I like the scale and tones on this a lot. That bright patch of light is so suggestive of the heat beyond. And the lines somehow echo the birthday boy's blip today.
Thanks for your comments on my 200th, your description of Lesotho made me cry. I think it reminded me of Nolo's longing for his homeland, he was a brilliant friend. And yes, shades of green feel like they're washing your eyes clean after years in a desert climate.

Birthdays and Matt aside this is a really fine shot. The color or the lack of a range of color with the forms of the buildings vertical lines combine to form a very very fine photograph.
