Zürich, Day 1

Six of us travelled to Zürich for the annual away trip of my Music Group. A former member has been living there for the past nine years, he'd been a great help in terms of giving advice on where to stay and what to do, had offered to take us for trips in his car during any time off he had, beginning with an outing tomorrow afternoon.

Our flight got us in around 4.00 pm, an ideal time to comfortably settle in to the hotel before meeting up with the others for a bit of finding our bearings and finding somewhere to eat. Almost by accident we found a great restaurant which had all the hallmarks of being more patronised by locals than visitors, which is just what we prefer. We had a really pleasant meal and then went exploring to find the next important spot for our first evening: a bar. We did that quite successfully too, and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and laid-back buzz over a few sociable drinks until the early hours.

The blip gives a glimpse up one of the many narrow laneways which go up from the riverfront on Limmatquai towards the main strolling street in the old town. Bar Cranberry (red door, blue shutters) enjoyed our custom a few times during our stay.
