Tuesday 1 March 2011: Broken Obelisk
Went to a lecture at the UW by the Prof on our recent trip to Egypt - he eloquently spoke about "Imperialism and Nationalism in Egyptian Archeology from WWl to Sadat"
It's very interesting how and when the ancient Egyptian forms became such a big part of the contemporary culture. So I thought this blip was appropriate - Barnett Newman's sculpture, with broken obelisk and pyramid, in the square in front of the gothic Suzzallo Library, grainy, in the rain, after dark.
