The population of our town of Timaru has risen by 20% in the last week, (since the earthquake) unfortunately the rental properties have pretty much all been taken, folk are opening up their homes, caravans, sleepouts etc. and offering places to stay. The families are enjoying our lovely weather and picnicing at Caroline Bay

This is Fergus, three legged and much loved....a wonderful well natured puss with tons of attitude. There are some other picies of this boy in here.

Late Edit - have been asked what happened to his fourth leg, here is the sad tale - he was caught in a gin-trap courtesy of a neighbour as yet unidentified. He dragged it home, went under the house, got caught around one of the piles. We hunted, & I mean hunted for days looking for him, I scoured all over our property, in the gorse hedges, called on neighbours etc etc. Then after 3 days we heard a tiny meow coming from under the house. We had to rip off some of the foundations to get under. He was so pleased to see us, purred so loudly even when in pain. A late night visit to the vet where sadly the leg was amputated. Terrible story, I still feel sick at the thought, and that was back in September 2001, just a few days before 9-11
