Credence Clearwater Revisited

Yipee.......what a great day we have had......this is much better LARGE

We arrived late at Wanaka last night, like 11.30pm - a 4 hour drive, with a stop off at Tekapo for a Chinese Meal to break the journey. This morning we headed over to Queenstown, well actually to the Gibbeston Valley Winery to get set up for the outdoor concert of CCR & Dr Hook. Raining overnight with a sprinkling of snow on the surrounding mountains.

Our friends had claimed a great spot, nice and close. A couple of supporting acts (both extremely good) then Dr Hook....well his songs are great, but to be honest I think he is a bit past it at the age of 74, his singing kinda flat and I think he was stoned!!! But, dups & I took up a spot up the front with all the rest that wanted to get into some dancing at all that other stuff, it was great!!!

Next act Credence Clearwater Revisited, now these were very polished, great group of ageing musicians but heck that were outstanding, awesome, loved them. The crowds went wild, and by this time a large proportion of them were totally sloshed and a lot of pot smoking going on around us.....an experience for us two, shall I say, a little older that most of them!!! Security were very busy removing various people, including the bloke in the bottom left picture (he collapsed at our feet when Dr Hook was on stage), but returned full of zest and vigor for the final act - he was making the most of the moment, but doubt if he would remember to much about the whole event.

A crowd in excess of 15,000, weather extremely hot - an awesome event. Dups and I made the most of it - tired legs, voices husky from singing (& maybe helped by inhaling the weed smoke all around us).

A great day, finished by a superb pot luck dinner in Queenstown with our friends then a late night drive over the Crown Range to Wanaka

*sighs with happiness*
