Sunday 6 March 2011: Good Shepherd
The Good Shepherd IV on the slip at Scalloway undergoing her annual check. She is the ferry between Fair Isle and Mainland Shetland coming into Grutness at Sumburgh. It's a trip that takes 2hrs 40mins and is not the calmest sea trip in the world!
Never done it and would rather not have to - the plane trip is much easier. My late father-in-law was once fogged in and had to take the ferry back. He had his cine camera with him and for part of the journey stood out on deck and all you can see in the film is grey sky followed by grey sea followed by grey sky - I felt ill just watching it.
