I AM A LEGEND

Off to Victoria today to play "Old Boys Rugby". I play for a Vancouver based team called... The Legends....!!.
Today we are playing The Ebb Tide in James Bay, just near the main harbour in Victoria. Being an away game we needed some extra players from another Vancouver based team; our friends The Evergreens. The change in weather was very enjoyable: sun and warmth rather than cold and snow.

Just before kick-off (but after extensive warming up), we gathered in a circle as seen here. We held a minute's silence in honour of two players recently killed in a car accident and those affected by the earthquake in New Zealand: even the dog was respectful.

On the right you can see the "gold" (ie yellow) shorts of The Rev (so named because of a dubious past). Gold shorts denote an old boy over 60: no physical contact can be made with them on the field. Rev came on for about 15 minutes. He celebrated his 75th birthday many months ago.

We, The Legends, duly lost. Our lack of practice was rather obvious while The Ebb Tide, though not necessarily fitter, were well drilled in recycling the ball.

A quick flight later and I am back in Calgary for dinner cooked by Catherine and Mike on my return.
Overall a fantastic day.
