Monday 7 March 2011: Whooper Swans Grazing in a Field

It was one of those blip days when I set off on a determined walk after school with an exact plan of what I was going to blip today. Mission accomplished and then driving home I passed a field with about 20 whooper swans grazing in it! Stopped the car and backed up a bit to get a shot. I kept waiting for the low evening sunlight to light them up but the clouds were not co-operating and they stayed in the shadow. My bird book informs me that these swans are migrants from Iceland and will make their way back there before mid-April. No wonder they are stopping off for a snack!

If you look carefully you can see a flock of sheep grazing on some turnips in the background.
