Tuesday 8 March 2011: Lessons in patronising...
375/365: 'What's this word?', says Maddy... patiently pointing it out. 'I'll read the letters out for you', she adds... helpfully.
Then berates me for not listening properly.
Or being able to read teensy letters from 2 metres away.
The word was M-I-R-R-O-R if you're interested. One day I'll be able to master complicated words like that. Until then, I'll just make do the best I can.
Am marginally pooped. Went up to Sheffield to meet my new department and a) had a nice chat with lots of people and b) discovered the delights of the Sheffield rush hour. Which was distinctly less delightful than having nice chats. The drive itself is a bit of a pain - just over 80 miles round trip - but it should be cope-able with, even if I'm going to be a tad trashed by it at first. We're also off to take a look at a car this evening so hopefully that will do the job.
My fingers are crossed. And legs. And eyes. And ears. And internal organs because I hate looking for cars. If I had lots of money then it would be great. But I don't. So it isn't!
Ermmm... not a lot else to say. Up at stupid o'clock. Sheffield and back. Desperate for a pee by the time I got home (I always misjudge these things - and yes, I know that's too much info, but you've read it now and it'll be imprinted on your minds forever *evil cackle*). Had lunch at just after 3pm. Dinner was pancakes. Felix burnt his hand on the pan. The kids could eat them faster that I could put sugar and lemon on them.
Ta daaaaaa! Another day done!
PS Tomorrow, I do marking.
PPS And meeting a friend for coffee. Garden leave is still rocking its socks off. :o)
