Tuesday 8 March 2011: Fat Tuesday
Mardi Gras sounds so much more exotic than Fat Tuesday.
Here we celebrated with cheese rolling but it was a rather more sedate affair compared to many others throughout the land. We don't have any hills in the city centre to hurtle the cheese down.
Then we moved on to Pancake tossing.
The French, represented by Franc's restaurant proved themselves to be adept at tossing. While the boys from Chester Market showed that they were pretty useful too.
There were doubles and mixed doubles as well as back hand and two handed styles of tossing.
A good time was had by all.
Though some preferred to sit in the sun and read their paper.
