Tuesday 8 March 2011: Saracen Fountain

Some detail on the fountain at Alexandra Park Glasgow.

Gifted to the city by Walter Macfarlane, the Saracen Foundry, and located here in 1914.

There are four classical maidens on pedestals (my tie in with International Women's Day), the two here representing literature and science.
