Friday 11 March 2011: Day of the Tsunami
The estimate is 15 million dollars worth of damage to the harbor and the boats that were sunk or battered by the huge ebb and flow of water here. Miraculously, no one was injured. I wanted to go down there to photograph, but traffic was jammed and in the end it didn't seem right to add my weight to all that was happening. I sat transfixed for a couple hours watching live coverage on my computer and recognizing all too well the places being shown.
