Pies Are Squared

Pie cases flying off a Van de Graf generator, Dunbar Science Festival. We struggled through the cold rain to get to the first ever Dunbar Sci Fest, which was heaving! Very busy, you can just about make out the audience reflected in the ball and the presenter on the right. I'm sure they could have filled a hall 4 times the size. The presenters managed well despite the background noise from the stalls - one of which had kids hammering nails to make bird boxes! - and despite a very unscientific power failure which had them shouting to the audience.

I've seen Van de Graf generators plenty of times before, but I've not seen this trick. Very entertaining!

Later on Katie, Gordon and I went for a cycle to the beach. A nearly-blip of them with a swan on Flickr.

Music was the current Late Junction Session by pianist Kit Downes and electronic improviser Leafcutter John. Kinda highbrow weird stuff, but now and again, just the ticket.
