Wednesday 16 March 2011: Winters Gibbet
High on the Moor above Elsdon stands Winters Gibbet, the site where William Winter in 1791 was hanged in chains after being executed at the West Gate in Newcastle upon Tyne for the gruesome murder of an elderly lady called Margaret Crozier.
another grey and misty day in North East England, this place is a twenty minute drive from my home, the feeling of the place was eerie, I seem to have settled in to a macabre theme here.......
I was going to upload this but I wavered and the Gibbet won.
