Wednesday 16 March 2011: The Pot
More green. But what is it? About 12-14" across, this and one nearby just like it is a perfectly spherical "pot" in the island rock.(now full of all our recent rains.....) Some think it was used by the Coast Salish people who lived here in the summers long ago. (There are middens bordering the beaches, but this is quite a hike up the hill from them) Or it has been suggested that it was made by a geologic "concretion" -a spherical aggregate in the rock that has since disappeared. OR maybe the island faeries use it for mixing magic potions.....
