Thursday 17 March 2011: la fheile padraig sona's :)

Happy Paddy's Day to you all :) We are all greened out this end! We have just been cavorting in Ballydehob where they have reinstated the St Patrick's Day parade after many years' absence. It was great - the sun nearly shone, and there were children, tractors, snakes, horses and St Patrick himself made an appearance! Everyone was dressed up in shades of green and orange and this old boy was belting out a fine tune. A madly healthy and organic lunch then we took the girls to a pub as we were shocked to find they hadn't been to one yet. Everyone was eating platefuls of meat, potatoes and cabbage and a session was going on in the corner. This was followed by Italian ice creams at the pizza place - pure bliss as there was pistachio!!

It's going to be a quick visit again as we are off out to some friends for supper - catch up time tomorrow :)

Edit - meant to add a bit of Irish music to go with this, so here are the Pogues and Ronnie Drew belting out the Irish Rover. Shane McGowan looks incredibly young and I think he's still got his teeth!!
