The Lady Evelyn

For the past couple of years, the Lady Evelyn has been moored alongside the north pier in Oban, gradually decaying in not so genteel poverty. She still hangs on to some dignity in the face of tides washing over her starboard side, and all kinds of rust and rot.

Last year, Mr Grier bought her and is trying - on his own - to repair the old fishing boat. He is not in the best of health and has no money, but has managed to progress work on the port side to the point that she could be righted and supported by legs to allow work on the starboard side. A temporary patch there, along with 10 more metres of caulking, would enable him to refloat the Lady Evelyn and move her to a more protected mooring in the Sound of Kerrera, where she would not be so much at the mercy of the tides. He needs help, especially in the form of advice. The payment he can offer eventually would be to motor round the west coast of Scotland and even as far as Dingle in Ireland, where Lady Evelyn has her origins. Dingle folk are keen to welcome her back home.

Five stars for effort, Mr Grier, hope you get to Dingle soon.
