Saturday 19 March 2011: Wind Dancers
KSON country western radio station Wind Dancers at the Grand Opening of SR - 52 Freeway in Santee, California. (Until just now, I did not know the difference between flying tubes, air puppets and wind dancers)
Today was the day many bicyclists (recumbent, regular, vintage, plus other types) roller bladers, roller skaters, skate boaders, joggers, walkers and just Looky-Lou's got to " GO PLAY ON THE FREEWAY!" at the dedication-opening of the last section of State Route 52 which FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY was completed after 4 decades of delays, political re-prioritizing of freeway funding and the usual other excuses.
There was live music, marching bands, food vendors (all the stuff was FREE! and it was all GOOD!), local community and business groups booths, fly - overs by the local bi-plane association and a great showing of vintage cars (mostly domestic, some imported).
It was great fun, and I walked the 3.5 mile section both ways, didn't want to deal with the bicycle today.
