Monday 21 August 2006: Sambo

Sam started high school today - a little nervous, but anxious to get his first day over with and not feel so conspicuous. Had to hide my smile at his laborious efforts tying and retying his tie! Watching him walk to catch his bus brought back memories of his birth, when he first opened his eyes and I wondered who he would become. I know he is still becoming and remains a wee boy in some respects, but watching him walk away today felt like the beginning of letting him go.
